Not too sure if I have kidney disease or not. My doctors never told me I do have kidney disease. My GFR is 60, but my BUN and Creatinine is normal. If I had kidney disease would my BUN and Creatinine also would be abnormal?

Hello marip1, I saw your post & wanted to reply. This forum is not active much anymore. When I had an issue to come up because all of my numbers were off on my kidney labs, a kidney specialist was brought in. As it turned out the hospital had given me too much of a medication. I was in the hospital for something unrelated.

I am quite sure if you have a kidney disease or the potential the dr would have immediately discussed this with you. A high GFR can be the result of other issues. If this were me, I would make an appt & ask the dr about this & get an explanation so that you can understand it much better. The dr should have done this already. Take care.

GFR stands for glomerular (glow-MAIR-you-lure) filtration rate. A blood test checks your GFR, which tells how well your kidneys are filtering.
From the Federal government:

It's important to know your GFR if you are at risk for kidney disease. A urine test will also be used to check your kidneys.

GFR is reported as a number.

A GFR of 60 or higher is in the normal range.
A GFR below 60 may mean you have kidney disease.
A GFR of 15 or lower may mean kidney failure.
