It seems like ages since I've posted on a regular basis and just wanted to touch base. My health has almost miraculously improved. My stomach problems disappeared and I was able to convince my surgeon that I don't need my gallbladder removed at this point. And my lupus has quieted down. There are days when the only thing that bothers me is the added weight I'm carrying around. I sometimes feel that if I could get rid of these extra pounds I might feel back to normal. I have a hunch as to what may be helping me. I've been seeing a naturopath who's giving me supplements to calm down my digestive tract and they seem to be working their magic. Within a week after starting them my bloating, belching, cramping, and clay-colored stools all vanished. She's also doing allergy testing twice a week and working with me on dietary changes. She's one of my closest friends and wants so much to help me feel better but she doesn't push. She truly is an angel.

My daughter had a tonsillectomy on Thursday so we're spending the next couple of weeks watching three seasons of the Office and lots of movies. She's also knitting with me and you can imagine how happy it makes me to have a knitting buddy.

I don't think about what tomorrow could bring, but focus on today and am so grateful for my improved health. It gives me hope that some of you will also write one day about feeling better. I know that you Rosie had a long period when you felt well again. So don't you guys give up.

I miss you all and will check in again soon.

Hey Patty!! A knitting budy!! Woooo hooo!! my DIL crochets and now she's trying sewing . . . yes! its great . . we can share pastterns and tips.

So glad you are feeling better. Yes! digestion is critical. . . its surprising how much better you can feel just getting some gut issues out of the way.

Your gallbladder?? Hmmmm I have several family members who had severe attacks. Their doctors each told them that having this done during a non-attack time was the best way to go. But . . . they don't have lupus. Their surgeries, though, were surprisingly simple. I was shocked to see each of them active the next day. One sis was swimming on day three (against her doctor's advice). BTW: weight-loss can bring on an attack sad . . . but . . . I'm SO glad you are feeling better.

Hi Patty!
So good to hear from you and what great news about how you're feeling!  Yay!
I had food allergy testing done in 2005 and it made a huge difference in my weight, once I got off the foods I was allergic or sensitive to.  I hope this good turn continues for you!
Glad you checked in with us!

<please pardon my highjacking the topic a bit>....

Was it an allergist (or who?) that did your food allergy testing? Do you remember about what it cost and did your insurance cover any of the cost?

Hi Patty,

I have been wondering about you. So glad you are feeling betterl But you know how important to take care of yourself or else you will slide backward. It's great to have a friend who is a naturopath. Take care and post as you can.

Hi Pat.  I'm doing the happy dance for you!!! yeah yeah yeah

I can't tell you how glad I am to hear how well you are doing.  Here's to a super long remission that will continue to have you feeling like your old self.  That's great news about your gallbladder.  I had been wondering if you had set up a date for the surgery, but no you don't need to :-) .

I'm also interested in the food allergy thing and am wondering who would be the best person to see about that.

Pat, I'll pray that you continue to feel better.  I'll bet that the longer you feel better the easier it will be to take some of your weight off.

Thanks so much for the update.

Love, hippi
