Hi everyone. I'm new, so this is my first post.
I was diagnosed with lupus 9 years ago, and had to have my hips replaced 7 and 5 years ago due to necrosis. I've been living in Arizona, so I really haven't had much problems with them, but my husband has been offered a job in Ohio and we are seriously considering it.
So, my questions...does anybody here that lives in the midwest, or any really cold weather state, also have a hip replacement? If so, how do you fare in the winter months? I appreciate any advice I can get.

Hello mygrljes . . .welcome to the forum!

I sure don't know how the weather affects hip replacement . . .but the members here who have rheumatoid arthritis with their lupus DO have a very hard time with the cold weather. I would have more concern over your other joints. I do know a couple people with hip or knee replacement but they haven't mentioned how the weather affects them. . . but the replacements are recent so maybe they don't even know yet.

Thank you, AlwaysRosie, for reminding me about my joints! I haven't had to deal with extremely cold weather since well before my lupus reared it's ugly head. confused  Thank you for the welcome, as well.

I'm a southerner too, but I want to welcome you to the forum. The humidity is what kills your joints in the south!!! Good luck and God Bless, Judy
