I don't know if most rheumies would dx you with it based on the labs, though a lip biopsy is supposed to be one really definitive diagnosis. I have low ssa ssb but have sjogrens confirmed by biopsies, gallium scan, symptoms, etc. I meet all criteria and am helped by treatment. To look at a picture of a woman with severe sjogrens and looking at me, you can really see it. My neck is huge and cheeks.
One thing that might be worthwhile to find out is whether or not ssa, ssb actually cause sjogrens symptoms, or just happen to be there coincidentally in people with sjogrens. I found out at Mayo that sometimes that's the case with some lab values. They are indicators, but don't directly relate to the disease or whatever. I think they go up and down too.
Babs, wow, you are really up there!
I know that some antibodies like ds-dna and maybe also ssa, ssb can be caused by things like interferon therapy and liver disease. People with liver disease, especially hepatitis get a lupus like, sjogrens like syndrome and may not have antibodies but may develop them.
I have ss dna, but my rheumie says that value is useless as most people have those antibodies.
