I've been peeing blood for weeks. Ultrasound reveals kidney stones (I've had attacks before but did not have blood in urine.

Are Kidney Stones a symptom of lupus or autoimmune?

Hi Alan,
Hopefully someone will come along soon to help you out with this. I have never had a kidney stone or kidney problems.
My brother has had several stones over the years and he has blood in his urine sometimes with them. I've seen him in agony so I feel for you! He doesn't have lupus or any immune disease though.
Hang in there and take care. I will be praying those stones will be gone soon.

I have problems with numerous kidney stones, too. My doctor has me on pain meds because I pass stones (very tiny - but still painful) almost monthly. My rheumy suspects my frequent stones might be related to my lupus somehow but has not really explained why or how. I also frequently have protien in my urine and, also, numerous white blood cells.

Basically, it is very exhausting and I hope things slow down soon. I started having stones at age 17 and had them about every 8-10 years until three years ago when I started just passing hundreds of them each year. My kidney specialist has me on a calcium-channel blocker type high blood pressure medication and this seems to help me by slowing down how quickly my body dumps calcium through my kidneys.

I have had some luck from eating asparagas (pureed) and drinking Diet Coke with it. I read this on the internet and it really helps me get rid of a lot of stones without as much pain. So, when I am really having a lot of stones and/or pain, I make my asparagas/Diet Coke "dinner" and go to bed early.

I hope this helps. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
