I'm currently on dialysis and am awaiting a kidney transplant. I've been feeling really crappy lately, have been super tired, and have the butterfly rash again.  It's been a long time since I've had a flare. I had some blood work done and found out that I'm having a flare. I'm so upset because that puts my transplant on hold for awhile. They said I can't get it until I've been "lupus free" for 6 months. I'm really depressed about this. Has anyone else ever been through a similar situation?

Hi Sarahlynn,
I'm sorry you're facing such a long haul with your transplant. I haven't had the experiences you are dealing with, but just wanted to let you know we understand the frustration of all this.  I'm sure someone will read your posting who has had a transplant issue, and they'll give you all the advice they can.
Take care,

Sarahlynn, I'm so sorry that you are so sick and that your kidney transplant is on hold because of it. Like ginny said, there are other members here who have had kidney transplants and they will hopefully see your post and be able to give you some more information. Know that we are here for you through all of this.

Take care

Hi Sarah

I am currently waiting to be evaluated for a transplant myslef but am not on dialysis yet but am rapidly approaching. My lupus is also currently active and I have been made aware as of late how that complicates one's eligibility for a transplant.

Please feel free to email if you like anytime. I know how frustrated you must feel right now so if you ever need a friend to help understand I will be there for you.

Lupus affects us all differently and unfortunately nephritis is probably the most challenging to deal with.

What blood work did they do exactly to say that you are having a flare? SED rate and ana antibodies?

I'll be sure to keep in touch.
