Checkout the link "4 of 11" at the bottom of my signature...it'll give you the main symptoms, but mostly just setup a rheumy appt and trust the drs.
They can decide what to look for and do the looking, that's what they're paid for!
Meantime, try not to worry -- there is NO SUCH THING as a definitive lupus test!! Your dr is probably referring to a rise in an ANA test -- which can be a number of other things besides Lupus...all of which are things a rhuemy knows about
