First, you should have your doctor write a statement to your employer requiring a medical leave. While on medical leave, apply for disability from the social security administration. I had to do this back in 2000 because my job was causing too much stress, and I was home sick more than I was at work. Getting the disability made it a lot easier to quit working. Granted, it's not as much as I was making while working, but my husband works so it's enough to help us get by.

I have good days and very bad days on the job, mostly bad. some days i just want to give up and some days I feel great. sometimes just walking up the stairs depresses me so bad that i constantly think about quiting my job, being sick all the time, and feeling so weak makes everyday life a very difficult task. I would say 80 percent of the time i wish i didn't have to work, so I feel your pain, and I too desperately need a break from work. mygrljes you have a very good idea I think i am going to look into doing that thanks for the help.

Hi everyone.....I was dx with Lupus April 2007 and lyme disease Aug 2007. I've been sick for 14 yrs and though it was tough to get through the bad days, I was ok working.

This last yr, working has been tougher and tougher. My job is very stressful and the building I work in is infested with toxins and the people I work with are the most negative bunch.
I took a one month disability leave when my Rheum put me on Plaq. Then I went back to work for 6 months, went on treatment for lyme and took another 3 months off. Went back to work for 3 more months and like you, I had it! I had to leave my job. I was so stressed just getting ready at 5am, getting my lunch ready and then sitting in 45 mins of traffic both ways. It was terrible. I went back to my rheum 2 weeks ago and that was it, he put me back on disabilty for another 3 months.

Had I seen this post a yr ago, I would have said "hang in there", but now that I see how much not working can help with healing, I say "take some time off"
The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong in the broken places
