i wrote in a few days ago about the fact that my face always looks sunburnt mainly in my cheeks and my forehead.  i've had this for awhile now however i've noticed a change in the past mth or so.  on my cheeks where the redness is it looks like little broken blood vessels or lines in the redness now.  they are redder then the normal redness.  is this normal in lupus?

I have a few spots on my cheeks that are more red than the rest and it does look a little like broken blood vessels, but I've never asked my rheumy about it, so I don't know if other people with lupus experience this.

If you are taking prednisone, it will cause the broken capillaries. When the dose is lowered alot or your able to come off it they will go away. If your not taking prednisone, do you have high Blood pressure? Let us know what you find out. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

When my rash started I was told it was broken blood vessels from a derm. that I was seeing she was lasering my face ,but it was getting worse so I stop seeing her.I couldn't stand the pain. By the time I finally found a Rhumy I had the full mask she diagnose me with lupus this was 20 yrs. ago. It took a couple of dos. and a couple of yrs. before I was diagnose. I don't think there were to many docs. out there that really knew about lupus. I don't know if it is normal but I have it also. Take Care!!! Debbie

I have a few on my cheeks, hardly noticable if you're not looking. I take a low dose of prednisone, though, and they just showed up a few months ago.
