Have any of you had a problem with your parathyroid levels being though the roof for over a year now. I had thyroid removed last year because of a number of growths, they also had to remove one of my parathyroid as one of the growths had eaten it. Anyway that was when they first found out that my levels are through the roof. My calium levels and in the basement and I'm losing bone density. And now my heart is doing strange things. For no reason at all I wake up with my blood pressure though the roof 1 example would be 160/101 my eyes are getting to dry all the time and it is affecting my vision.
I'm starting in a couple of weeks seeing all my specialist in about 2 weeks but I hate it.
Fibro since 97, Lupus since 99, neuropathy and other nerve damage.
On to many Meds to list, Finally got a date for SSA of July 1 after to many years of fighting for a hearing.

It sounds like you need to call your primary doctor and see if you can get in sooner than later. Blood pressure that high can be dangerous. Any number of things can be going on; parathyroidism is a possibility among them. Don't wait to see if things subside, take care of things now.

hippyrebel, I agree that you need to see your doc about the blood pressure readings you are getting. I don't have high parathyroid levels, but while I was in diagnosis limbo, my pcp checked my parathyroid because it can cause a lot of the same symptoms as lupus when it is out of whack.

I'm sorry things aren't going well for you right now. I really hope the docs can help, but I would call ASAP about your heart and your blood pressure. Take care

Hey OldHippy!!

I don't know much about the parathyroid . . . and this might be a dumb question . . . but are you seeing an endocrinologist? Just would want to make sure you were seeing a specialist for this.

I hope you'll keep us posted!

I  got one of my parathyroids removed due to a tumor last December. My calcium levels were high along with my PTH. I ended up with severe osteoporosis in my hips and I am only 31. I was just diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Connective tissue disease in March 08. Since my parathyroid was removed my blood pressure leveled out but my heart races constantly. I too recently am having problems with dry eyes.

Good luck and I hope you get some answers.
