I was wondering if anyone else gets a shooting pain from your ankle(outside part of the ankle) to the inside of your thigh into your groin area few times a week. Its a sharp jabbing feeling that last about a minute and along with that I get charlie horses in my calf about 3 times a week.I saw the rhuemy this week and she took xrays on friday so i probably won't hear anything until tuesday. But if this happens to anyone else can you tell me what caused it and if you have problems with circulation, artery clogging or anything.
Thanks alot,

Hi Mary, No that's one I havn't had. It sounds awful though. I'm wondering if anything would show up on an xray. It sounds more like a nerve problem? I hope somone comes along that has been through it that can help you. Keep us informed.

I've had something similar, though mine hasn't shot upwards as you describe.  Mine has shot (like getting electrocuted) down my legs and in my ankle. In my ankle area, it felt as if an Electric Nail Gun was shooting large nails into the side of my ankle. And the pain down my leg(s) (as i've had it in both legs now, though left is usually worse)...felt as if my whole leg was cut open from my rear end to my foot, and someone was pouring alcohol all up & down it all day. I also lately get sharp, zappping pains in the right side of my privates; I also get it around both hip areas and lately down the front of my left thigh. However, it is not always in the same area and even when it's in my leg, i don't always have the pain all the way down. Sometimes it would just be in my ankle, sometimes just in my upper leg, etc. Mine was diagnosed in my left leg as sciatica due to herniations, scar tissue, and a piece of tissue that was jammed in a small space where a spinal nerve runs through. I had to have a nerve block done, which helped a great deal with the pain. However, that was last summer and I've gotten some pain back in that leg now & then, though it's been more dull. I also get severe muscle cramps and spasms in many areas; When I had that severe left leg sciatica, I had fasciculations and severe cramps along the leg and in my foot..and nerve pain can cause that. Only thing is, mine could only be diagnosed with MRI...x-rays do not show all the soft tissue and nerves.

It sounds to me like you might have a nerve issue, maybe sciatic, except the pain would not go up, it would go down. I hope if you're x-rays don't show anything, that your doc sends you for an MRI for further investigation.
