If your Lupus is flaring it can cause your glands to swell and be tender. I had that a lot right before my diagnosis. Also, if you have Sjogren's Syndrome, that can cause swollen, tender glands too. You might want to put a call into your rheumy's office just to give them the heads up. They might be able to get you in sooner.
