I started a new thread for you so that everyone would know that your new here. Welcome to our forum and you'll meet many great people here. We have a lot of members that have MCTD and hopefully they'll be along to talk with you soon. The medication that the doctor gave you is one of the first meds that they give to treat lupus, UCTD, MCTD, RA, and it's the safest of all the medication we take. Most people have some stomach upset but it passes with time. It takes about 6 months to feel the full effect of the medication. In very rare cases some patients have eye issues with it. You should have your eyes checked prior to taking it and then be seen either every 6 months or once a year.
I'm sorry that you've had all the pain and just not feeling well. Sorry to hear about your sister and mother, I wish them both well. AI diseases are hard to diagnose and it can be really frustrating, it sounds like you have a good Rheumy. I have lupus I've had it for 21 years but it took them 13 years before they said I had it and started treating me for it. I also have RA, Fibro, and blood cancer in addition to my lupus. If I can be of any help please let me know, I'll be more than happy to offer up my experiences with things, I've taken all the medications for lupus except Arava and Gold. I'm happy to welcome you to our forum and looking forward to getting to know you better. Take care and good luck to you.
