((((((Barb)))))) Gosh, that port procedure sounded awful and like hokey. No anesthesiologist? Well, at least it got done and I'm sorry it hurt so much. I don't know why they don't try the gold with you, but then Idont know the consequences. I know it is expensive, my grandfather had it, but it worked really well for him, but there werent many options back then. I hope that they are right about
it being your RA, after all, inflammatory markers can go up with kidney infections and other stuff. I'm sure you know, having been through this. Do you have puffy edema in the ankles? You were saying you had burning in your hip in the earlier post. Do you feel like it might be something antibiotics can help? There are so many articles out about
stubborn unresolved infections leadng to autoimmune probems or triggering autoimmune disease, then we take immunosuppressants and we get worse ultimately, though feel better in the short term. Maybe the oncologist can make some recommendations to your rheumie based on his view of things. It just seems like for rheumatologists, every ill we get is autoimmune, whereas a primary care doc or infectious disease doc would see the same thing as an infection.
I'm sure you know what's going on. I always make them do a urinalysis and treat any uti because I get them often and the pain meds mask the symptoms. Then if its still bad, I go on with the steroids or whatever they may be offering.
Well, it sounds like you sort of agree with the oncologist somewhat, knowing what the meds from the rheumie can do. I know you will follow you heart and get through this. I'm so sorry so much of the burden is on you, on top of being so very sick. The whole thing seems so scary enough to be almost numbing. I would be shellshocked at this point. You are really strong Barb and a real inspiration to me. I'm sorry that you have the cancer, even when its not active, always hanging over your head, and I'm so sorry bout the lupus and the rest being so bad. I hope you feel better soon and I'm sorry I've been away, my head just hasnt been right and I've been messed upand tired and dealing with family matters and stress. I'm sending you lots of love, good wishes, happy thoughts and hopes for you and prayers. I know you will get through this the right way and get what you need. If you think the gold might help, I'd call the oncologist and tell him you want to try it and see if he will rght a letter requesting this type treatment for you given your cancer situation. I'm sorry you can't lay back and relax and be sick and concentrate on getting well, but I'm glad you are strong enough to deal with what you need to.
I hope you get well soon and can get back to your life and go on your trip. I also hope the bone marrow thing happens for you soon.
