I have been in a flare up fopr about a week now actually since my rheumy changed a couple of m meds. he took me off methotrexate and piroxicam and added imuran, prednisone and a tummy pill I forget the name of it,the pred. is only for 30 days. I haven't been to work in a week and feeling upset that I have missed to much since school started back my Principal has been so nice letting me leave when I need to but I am afreaid her niceness will wear off since I never look sick to her. I have a co worker that complains all the time and she leaves all t time but she has no documented reason and can never produce a dr note to return to work so my boss thinks I am doing the same even though I have brought proof of a medical condition Lupus. Could it be since the change of medications that I am in theis flare or is it just one of those things that will happen from time to time a longer flare up than normal. My normal flare is typically 2 days of pain and 1 day or 2 of tiredness but this has been a complete week of pain and fatigue no relief except when I take loratabs then the pain doesn't go away completely. I am just sad this is happening to me. Can't help but feel sorry for myself I am scared I am getting depressed.

Hi Jenkstrojanmom,

I am sorry you are feeling sad, this disease will do that to us sometimes ((((hugs)))). How long have you had lupus?

To answer your question, could you be flaring due to the medication change, in my opinion absolutely YES! My doctor has tried twice to take me off plaquenil and it threw me into a terrible flare. Then she tried to take me off piroxicam, which also threw me into a bad flare. With all three of these flares, I had symptoms I had never had before. I think it was with the 2nd time with Plaq, the joints in my chest were hurting, I seriously thought I had an issue with my heart. Then when I came off piroxicam, I started having problems with my ears, not inside the ear, the tiny joints, etc around my ear! It was crazy!!!

I think you should call your doctor and let them know how you are feeling. I do hope you get to feeling better soon! Take care and keep us posted on how you are doing.

(((((hugs))))) I'm so sorry you are going through this rough time - lupus likes to throw all kinds of nasty curve balls and you never know when they are coming. I agree with Stacie that this could very well be because of your med changes - it has happened to me too. Do call your rheumy and let him/her know what is going on.

Work stuff can be really hard, especially when you have an "invisible" disease like lupus. I quit my job about 3 years ago and I remember there were people at work who were supportive of what I was going through and other people who just didn't get it. I hope you get some relief soon. Take care and keep us updated.

Hi Jenks... I can relate to what you are saying about not looking sick... me too... I look healthy....and people just don't get it...
I don't take the high powered med's and don't know alot about them.. I only take one..nabumatone...
Here is hoping you feel better soon and can return to your job... I have to ask... are you in Oklahoma? I am from there but live in Arkansas now.. I am asking because I recognize Oklahoma in your screen name....

thank you all for taking time to tlak to me and encourage me. I did call my rheumy today I am waiting for him to call me back. I actually feel a little better today. Jhmom I was diagnosed 4 years ago when I became preg for the 2nd time but the Dr. advised that it not be put in my medical records so I didn't think anything was truely worng with me because I felt fine, after my son passed and I had to have a hysterectomy was when things started to go downhill and my Primary sent me to the rheum. so 3 years that I have been on meds for it. Weleetka yes I am in Tulsa Ok. what part of Oklahome did you live?
