Thanks for your perspective, Lynwood.....I do know what you mean about
doctors and their biases! :)
I've had 3 different rheumys in the past 2 years; my current one is a fibro specialist, although he's the one who dx my lupus. He runs a research clinic at UCLA for fibro. He prescribes meds for me for both fibro and lupus, so I guess I'm covered. He did increase my pred dosage when I had the lupus flare, and it seemed to help a little (not enough). Now I'm back to the vertigo and brain fog big time, but since I'm not showing the malar rash he says it's the fibro....I just don't know.
I agree too that drs may not always be useful, except to order tests when you need them, LOL! I know that [iI'm the one who perseveres to figure out what's going on....I'm
usually the one who suggests that I be tested for this, that or the other because it matters to me! The key, I guess, is to find a doctor who's willing to listen and go along with your investigations and order tests for you.
And now I've found out that I may have Lyme Disease, and my rheumy says he doesn't believe in chronic Lyme! Well, I anticipated that reaction from him and made an appt with a Lyme-Literate MD this month already.....we'll see what happens next!
My medical issues are always an adventure! :)
