Today was a very hard day as it was very cold out and when that happens the pain seems to be worse. I was to have an appointment with my therapist when my car had trouble and I was already in pain and to complicate matters the depression was bad. I'm not sure if the depression was from the pain or the fact that my car was not in good condition. Well I came home and took extra pain medication and rested for a while and this evening feel so much better. What should I think other than Friday is another day and maybe it will be better. I shouldn't have taken extra pain meds but it hurt so bad. I'm so tired of the pain. It is all in my lower back so sitting or standing for and length of time is hard. Now driving my car is difficult. Thanks for listening......

pain causes depression and can worsen it you need to talk with your doctor about better pain management and maybe even see a pain management speciailist

I really hate days like that! I know the pain can be very hard to deal with... I'm sorry you're going through all that. I wish there was something I could do or say that would really help. Just keep reminding yourself that no pain is forever, and the good days make it all worth it!

Take care,

Hi Linx. Depression was one of my first lupus symptoms and it continues to be a daily issue. I noticed that you see a therapist, but do you also see a psychiatrist? You may simply decide that you'd rather be on pain meds than anti-depressant and anxiety meds. Personally, when my psych meds keep my emotions in check, it's much easier to handle the pain. More importantly for me is when I'm on the right psych meds, the crying jags stop and as the depression lifts I reach out to family and friends.
On a side note, don't beat yourself up bout taking the pain meds, I resort to them too, but to keep narcotics to a min, I take celebrex and tylenol arthritis twice a day. Take care Sweetie and think of spring. Love, Butterflake
