So, after about 1.5 years and not much success with this rheumy, I have an apt next week with a new one at Mayo. I sure hope he is good. What baffles me is that the current rheumy has not done much testing. All he has tested me for is an ANA (which was positive 1:160) then he tested me for sjogren's (no complains of dry mouth or eyes from me.) My primary care doc said he should have done more of a work up on the ANA. I am in so much pain in my shoulders and have general malaise and I am sick of it. I have colitis and the plaquenil made it worse so I had to stop it for a while. Not that I felt it was working. I hear it takes months to kick in. I am just angry that this doc never did more tests OR X-RAYS. Now, maybe my symptoms didn't seem like other diseases but goodness, I am worse. I got some relief on 10 mg of prednisone but when he put me on 5 mg it was like taking a sugar pill. I had an uncle with RA and he didn't even test my rheumatoid factor. I don't get it. Now, I am going to have to drive hours out of my way for a decent doctor. Now that my colitis is better, I started back on the plaquenil. I sure hope it will kick in soon. I am going to ask about lyme disease.
Symptoms: shoulder, hip, knee, wrist, foot pain. Sometimes joints feel hot. Hands swell. Feel achy all over sometimes. Rare low grade fever.

Any suggestions for me?

Better a long drive to see a good doctor then a short one to see a hack.
Good luck finding the right doctor for you.

Thanks. Between the aches and pains and the colitis, I feel cursed sometimes. I took a tylenol today though and it helped me feel better thank goodness....
