When you are spilling protein, one of the symptoms is getting up in the night to urinate. Well, apparently I have started spill lots of protien again and I have been getting up 4-6 times each night! Has anyone found anything that helps minimize the bathroom trips?

Hi Amy. Frequent urination can also be a urinary tract infection or necessary fluid loss from edema, etc. I have 1st stage kidney disease with protein. The nephrologist said it could stay that way for 10 years, but I still get fluid build up with no ankle or arm swelling and suddenly I pee all night.

I know it's sometimes hard, but don't drink anything in the evening. Always pee right before bed. I see you take ambien and that can help me sleep with minimal potty breaks. That's all I can think of. Love, Donna

Yes, I have some nights where I'm up 2 or 3 times to go. Other nights it's just once. So it varies. Doesn't seem to matter how much I drink.
I recently had a biopsy and have just the beginnings of nephritis with protein spillage. Started on cellcept
& prednisone. And like you, Donna, the ambien helps, also.
