Hi! Red,
It sounds like me, but I have had asthma since 1997. And when I have a flare when I have a resp. infection, I can also have periods of time when I feel like I have lost the INSTINCT to breath, like I have to remind my brain to take in a breath, and then I KNOW I need more prednisone asap. And that fear I won't take another breath, often at night when I am usually the lousiest, is often associated with my worse neuro symptoms, rt. sided ear and head pain, my left leg is numb and won't pick up rt, and I stumble, my vision is not helped by my glasses, and rarely, but scarily, I have trouble swallowing. In fact, my shortness of breath is what took me to the ED and now I always have a prn prescription for 20mg prednisone tablets in addition to my 5mg daily dose. You should let your dr. know asap and be alert for any sign of a fever. You wouldn't want to be brewing an infection.

Hi redrose, sorry so late getting back to you. But if you are not feeling better and havn't seen a dr. I sucgest doing so. also when I have trouble breathing I sleep on the couch or at least sleep with 2 or three pillows to prop me up. it seems to help some. If you live some where that is humid you might want to invest in a dehumidifier if you don't have one. I have one that pumps about 5 gallons a day into it. I think man that would be lie glue in my lungs! it helps too. But I hope you are feeling better.
take care
