Hi everyone! My rhuemy ran a large series of blood work last week to confirm the lupus diagnosis. Only a couple have come back and I dont really know what to make of them. I was hoping someone out there can explain. So far my SED rate is 31 and CRP is .8. We are still waiting on all the others but Im not sure what the SED rate and CRP are for. Any help would be appreciated.

The SED rate is the time it takes for your red cells to settle in a tube. The faster they settle, the more inflammation or infection you have in your body. It is very non specific. The CRP is for C reactive protein. It is more specific for inflammation. My sed rate is high but my crp is normal. So, go figure. I hope yours will turn out ok.

Hi Stephanie, here is a link to help you better understand your tests and answer lots of questions Also any test you get tell your doctor you want a copy of it. They belong to you and they should have no problem about giving it to you. It helps to have as much info with you as possible since we tend to see more then one kind of doctor.

Good luck
