I have 5 of the 11 criteria for diagnosing Lupus. So, does that automatically mean I have it or are there more factors that play into diagnosing it?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and answers.
Dx: Fibromyalgia, "tentative" SLE, Hypothyroidism, PTSD and GAD.

Rx: Plaquenil, Lyrica, Cymbalta, Ultram, Relafen, Synthroid, Abilify, Klonopin, Vit D3, and Lunesta.

it means there is a good chance you have lupus but everything else has to be ruled out first because lupus is the great immitator.

Hi Ashley. You may think that you meet 5 of the criteria, but to be diagnosed your rheumy has to agree. In my opinion the criteria are too tight. For instance I had ulcers in my nose and on my tongue, but since I didn't have them on the roof of my mouth I didn't meet that criteria. I have lots of central nervous system problems, but I don't meet that criteria either. Regardless, it's good to become familiar with the symptoms. www.lupus.org has a good interactive tool under diagnosis. Many of our members have taken pics of themselves with the butterfly rash, mouth ulcers, etc to their rheumy to help with the diagnosis. Love, Butterflake    aka Donna
