I have had the same thing happen to me. I have had the worst year of my entire life. It started with a simple (or what I thought was simple) back injury in Dec. After three steroid injections (Apr-May), I started to go downhill quick! I developed De Quervain's tenosynovitis (inflammation of the tendons in my hands) in both my hands basically overnight! Literally, I woke one morning with extreme pain in my right hand, by the end of the week it had spread to both hands. My rheumy tested me for everything under the under, with normal blood results and told me I needed PT and anti-inflammatories (which I was already on from the back injury), which didn't make sense as I didn't overwork my hands...and as sudden as the wrist problems came on, they went away! Then, the sore joints, muscle spasms became my everyday problem! As they couldn't find anything wrong (bloodwork, xrays all normal), they called it Fibromyalgia (June). I July, I finally changed doctors to one closer to home & would treat the pain of fibro.
For the last two months, I have had atypical pneumonia with pleuorisy (without elevate white blood count & non-responsive to antibiotics) lasting 4 weeks, followed by a sinus infection & continued lung inflammation & fever and extreme fatigue, hot/cold flashes for another 3 weeks (again no elevated white count & normal bloodwork). Today I visited the doctor again, for the 15th time in the last 9 weeks as my fever, hot & sweaty, mouth ulcers, fatigue, cough, sinus congestion, lung inflammation/wheezy is still present. My doctor is now questioning fibromyalgia, as I have more of the Lupus symtpoms (including the red face) and I am being sent to the 3rd rheumy for his option and additional testing. Is it possible to have both the fibro & lupus without the bloodwork supporting? I have tested positive for Sjogren's (1year) and I have Hashimotos (7 years) and a positive speckled ANA (don't know the titration level)
How many years did most people wait for a positive Lupus test? My doctor is sure I have Lupus (her sister was diagnosed years after symptoms began) and says that one day all the markers will be positive.
