Hi all,
I'm new to this forum, have been on the Figromyalgia forum for some time now.

It's time for me to learn more about the Lupus and Sjogren's diseases. I have been having symptoms and all my tests had come out as a "alert" because there were indcations of Lupus and Sjogrens about 6 years ago. My Rhumy at that time put me on Plaquinil and I really didn't notice too much change, was taking a massive amount of other pain killers at the time and just stopped the Plaq.

Now I have a definitive diagnosis, have moved from another state and need to find a new Rhuemy about medication.  It looks like the Plaq is what most are using. Are there other drugs out there, do you guy's really see a difference with this med. I guess I'm looking for alternatives since I had taken it for a very long time with no noticable changes.

Hey minnymouse! Sorry to hear you got a deffinate diagnosis! Yes, there are other medicines to treat lupus but plaq is the one with the least side effects! The other medicines have more severe side effects. But to name a few of them are Imuran, Cellcept, and Methotrexate. But i would deffinaly leave it up to a rhuemy who is used to treating lupus. They will look at your blood work and suggest to you what they would think would be most benificial from what your blood work shows and what symptons you are having. I sure hope you can get into a rhuemy quickly!!
