Hello. My name is Adam and I am a 20 year old male. At the end of December of last year, I started getting very ill. I was very physically weak all the time, I didn't want to do anything, I became very depressed, I started having panic attacks and horrible anxiety, heart palpitations, excessive sweating, headaches almost every day, some even are very bad migraines and I STILL have low grade fevers every single day.

After 15 emergency room visits, most of them due to panic attacks, but a good few were me trying to fight for the doctors to do actual tests on me.

Long story short, after many blood tests, a small bowel follow through, a colonoscopy and an endoscopy, my GI doctor told me that he suspects I have Crohn's Disease because my ileum is thickened and has a lot of inflammation, and my whole stomach lining is inflamed as well. He says as far as his expertise is concerned, I am on the early onset of Crohn's but he's not completely sure, so I have no "official" diagnosis. I am currently taking Pentasa 1000mg 4 times a day, .5mg klonopin 3 times a day, and I take tylenol during the day for my fevers and tylenol PM to help me sleep at night as I am always very sleepless. I just started taking azirthomycin for a sinus infection. This is the third sinus infection I've had in the past 6 months.

about a month ago, I began getting a rash on my face, it is sometimes a very light red, sometimes it is a dark pink color, and sometimes it looks like a burn, and when I touch it it actually feels like it burns, kind of like a sunburn. I don't spend very much time in the sun though. I'm very housebound, and it;s very upsetting.

My doctor gave me the number of a rheumatologist and an opthamologist today. My GI told me that he wanted me to see them, mainly the rheumatologist to get tested for Lupus, and to check out other systemic symptoms related to Crohn's disease.

I'm just very concerned, and I was wondering if anybody here has gone through anything similar to what I am going through. It's been 5 months now, the fevers happen every day, I sweat a lot for no reason even when I'm just sitting, the only relief I can get from that is a fan, i have headaches all the time, sometimes migraines, my heart beats very fast for no reason sometimes and all the symptoms I still have that are listed above. It's very scary not knowing what you have, and it's also very scary when a doctor suggests things to you that he thinks you might have but you don't know for sure. I had to leave college because of all of this, and I want to start school again this year...

Welcome to the Lupus Firum,

Since I don't know a lot about Crohn's, it's difficult to figure out what might be overlapping symptoms vs. symptoms that are generally lupus or generally Crohn's.

I would suggest you check out Other than that, it sounds like most of your symptoms overlap. (The fast heartbeat may be anxiety/panic.) A rheumotologist is the expert on Lupus, I'm not sure what medical specialty treats Crohn's Disease.

Hope they get to the bottom of it soon, keep us updated on how you are doing.
