LTD for over 10 years also SSD .Now LTD sending me to occupational medicine Dr
LTD Manager made it very clear they think I can work. Has anyone dealt with this?As others with lupus know some days I'm o.k but most days fatigue would never allow me to work. I'm on imuran, plaquinal and on and off prednisone. The stress from this is making me flare.

Have your doctor write a letter about what you are going through and give it to the manager. Maybe they will understand it better.

LTD's come along from time to time and contest your ability to work -- they've certainly done that with me. Don't take it personally, it's just something they continually do to mitigate their costs. Usually I end up getting new letters from all my doctors restating my diagnosis, my treatment, and my ability to work status.

You have to see their doctors for their "independent opinions" -- if you can document that having to do this is making you flare that would be great. Sometimes my flares can change my blood test results enough so blood work supports the fact I'm flaring.

Best wishes,

Lynwood,
Were you ever cut off and then got reinstated? If that happens then the lawyer gets 30% and I can barely survive on what I get now.

Yes, that did happen to me. The attorney did get a cut, but I don't remember how much it was. He got a percentage of the back pay he recovered for me, so the sooner you get an attorney on it the less they take.

Not sure what state you live in, but LTD and SSD are two different funds. If they cut off LTD, it does not mean they are cutting your SSD. LTD always looks for ways to cut expenses. As for SSD, a lot depends on the worked years you have had to cover your SSD. They call it "met your quarter." Meaning you have worked enough years to qualify for SSD. You said 10 years you have been on SSD and LTD. How old were you when you were approed? I am very sorry to hear you have Lupus. My very good friend has Lupus and she is only 27 yrs. old. Everyday is a struggle for her. She still works, but has been more in the hospital than at work. At some point in her lifetime sooner than later, she will need a kidney transplant. She has the real bad Lupus SLE. I wish you the best.
