I started having a flare last week and went to my rheumy this week who started me on prednisone. I feel better for the most part, but my hips feels like they're in a vice. It feels worse than it did before the prednisone. I was just wondering if anyone else had problems with your joints hurting more while on prednisone, rather than less. I'd really appreciate the input =]

from my previous experience, it should ease your joint pain and not the other way around.

My father is allergic to prednisone. It gives him chest pains.

Some people with fibro have experienced an increase in, or no help for pain with prednisone.  In fact, in some instances that informs where the flare/pain is stemming from....fibro or an AI inflammation.  If inflammation is involved, the prednisone should lessen it's discomfort.

A general guideline some doctors use to decide if the illness is Lupus or Fibro -- Prednisone generally helps with Lupus and generally does not help with Fibro.
