I had a severe migraine for a week. I take Topamax and Midrin. I've suffered from Migraines since the age of 12. I was on Midrin for yrs until I was switch to Topamax around 5 yrs ago. The pt. is this recent Migraine sent me to the ER on Friday all day. I was put on IV drip with Dilaudid (3 doses) until the Migraine stopped. A CAT scan was done. I'm waiting for the results to be sent to my Lupus Doctor on June 16th for review. Also, I had low potassium, with excruciating pain in my body from Fibromyalgia. No new tests were run for Lupus, b/c last month my Lupus test were high pos. I'm 31 and I've had Lupus since age 14, so it's running it's course as it's progressing to my brain I would suppose. It's getting harder to concentrate and comprehend things clearly.

Cognitive dysfunction is often part of a lupus flare. When mine was active, my doctor tried Imuran (did nothing for me), then Cellcept (worked miracles for me), and the next trial would have been MTX.

These are the top 3 meds that are usually brought into play when Plaquneil & Prednisone aren't improving our symptoms much. It's mix/match - they never know which med with work with with patient - so you may have to try 2 or 3 of these before you feel better.

The good news is lupus isn't always a "progressive" illness - my brain was so bad I could barley follow a 30 minute sitcom and didn't drive as I wouldn't be able to recognize my surroundings. Today I my comprehension and concentration are pretty much normal! So it doesn't have to be a permanent condition.

Hope you feel better soon,
