Does any one have any information or websites about alternative treatments to help ease the symptoms and medications of Lupus??
Does old world healing like Chinese medicine work?

Hi there, My only experience is back 15 years ago when I was diagnosed my doctor also prescribed some herbal remedies and they gave me a horrid flare. I don't know if it was because of the herb or if it was the maker and/or where it was made and it wasn't pure enough or what, but I have been suspect ever since. I do occasionally take Tumeric capsules and Ginger capsules from places I trust. (I make the tumeric caps myself). On the other hand I have a great friend that does everything with her health thru a naturopath and she has been able to successfully battle things like really bad Type II diabetes with a super controlled diet and she takes supplements from places that she trusts. So I say if you can get to a good naturopath or other holistic healer that you trust-it's worth a try!!

I take gelatin capsules. My PT told me it was ideal for helping the joints if your allergic to shellfish like I am (Glucosimin and Chondriton are shellfish based).

I go for accupuncture treatments every two weeks, and truly feel they help my ataxia and joint pain immensely. The blessing is our insurance pays for it, otherwise I couldn't go as often.
God knows, even if I don't....

I had tried those Chinese herbal medicine long time ago, and it didn't work on me. It gave me a flare and stayed in the hospital for few days. After two trys of Chinese herbal medicine, I stopped trying and stick to western medication which I think it's the best.
