I am 23 years old and recently diagnosed with systemic lupus, i've been on prednisone for 11 months and 2/3 of my hair has fallen out, will it grow back when i come off the prednisone?? In the meantime are there any products or natural remedies I can use that will help/keep it from falling out as much??

Your hair should grow back soon on it's own. I don't know of anything to help your hair grow back faster. Maybe rogain?

Meanwhile get you some cute hats or extensions.

I think we all respond to medications differently. When I was on Methotrexate I had frequent upper respiratory infection including pneumonia. Doctor stopped it and put me back on prednisone. Before I was diagnosed with SLE (21 years ago) I also had arthritic pains, elevated body temperature, and hair falling. After I started prednisone my symptoms improved. With me hair falling occurred when my lupus was out of control. I have tried many other drugs but didn't work for me. I am now on prednisone 7 mg, hydroxychloroquine 200 mg twice daily, colchicine 0.6 mg (for my heart), Benlysta (2nd treatment), and Atelvia 30 mg. I hope your treatment will go well for you.

Prednisone is probably not the cause of the hair loss, it is more likely from Lupus itself. Prednisone is known for increasing hair, particularly facial hair on women.

Once your lupus is under control your hair will grow back - mine is back to normal after losing about 1/3 of it.
