Hello ladies,
I have a quick question about prednisone since many of you take it on this board.  I have been taking between 5 and 10mg per day for a few months, and lately I have been having some upper right abdominal pain, right under my rib cage.  I have read that prednsione can cause belly issues if used long term.  I'm wondering if anyone here has experienced anything like this on pred?
Thanks so much!

If you had prednisone issues in your stomach, it usually is in the form of an upset stomach, like gas, reflux, or fast-emptying diarrhea. Prednisone works better if you eat something with it, and my doctor had me taking Prilosec OTC daily to keep from having stomach issues.

I wouldn't think upper right abdomen would be stomach-related, but it is where the gallbladder is located. I had this issue about 3 yrs after Lupus dx -- ended up I had several gallstones & had my gallbladder removed. No issues since.

My suggestion would be to see your doctor!
Hope you feel better soon,

Hi Lynwood,
Thanks so much! No,  pred actually relieves my belly issues such as noisy stomach etc. It may be gallbladder, blech! But I thought I would ask, will go ahead and check with my doctor.

Hi Guys!
Petter, the Administrator, got me back in! My eyes were tired and blurry last night and I accidentally hit the unsubscribe link. Lynnwood, I agree with your advice to Momto3. Does sound like gall bladder. My cousin just went thru that and had stones and they removed it. Not fun to have more medical issues! Good luck, Momto3!
