I am new to this forum, and wanted to get some opinions/guidance/support while waiting to see the rheumatologist in mid-September. My dermatologist sent me for labwork for this itching issue I have-there are no marks or bites on my body but I suddenly get the urge to scratch like somethings biting the heck outta me. My ANA test was positive 3 weeks ago, homogenous pattern, and the titer was 1:40 which I heard is low. My primary doc sent me for more testing last week, and the ANA is now 1:160 and homogenous. My white blood cell count is 11, my sed rate was 4, and immunoglobulin is 30. I just turned 29, and throughout my 20s I've had a wide range of different ailments. I have always just brushed them off or blamed them on something else, but now I'm a little scared. Any advice/experience would be greatly appreciated!

Check in the post at the top "Lupus Resources" - you will find lists of things to note and take with you to the rheumy. Try not to worry while you wait for your rheumy appointment! Lupus doesn't have to be a big hairy monster, just wait and see what is really happening.

Meanwhile, you might check on your Dr and see if he is involved in any local groups (like local chapter of www.lupus.org) -- some rheumies are not good with auto-immune disorders, but one working with lupus would be well-informed and up-to-date on treatments available.

Hope you feel better soonest,

I'm prone to itching if I'm outside in the sunlight or under fluorescent lights. Try to use sunscreen and SPF protection clothes and see if you get some relief.
