Hi! I'm Mel. I'm a 21-soon-to-be-22-year-old who has a lot of "auto-immune issues" which my doctors have yet to fully diagnose... several years ago it was "you most likely have lupus" then it was "it isn't lupus"... now it's "we have no clue what's wrong with you...let's start from scratch." (You know how it goes..)

So lately I've noticed that either my salivary gland or lymph node underneath my tongue in the front has been swollen, along with a swollen tonsil, and several swollen lymph nodes along the jawline/neck. ALL are on the right side. This has been going on for about a month, but in the past couple of days it has been getting worse, and PAINFUL.
It didn't hurt before so I wasn't too worried. Tonight when I try and relax and go to sleep, the pain becomes almost unbearable. Definitely enough to keep me up. I began to notice that the pain didn't feel like it was coming just from the swollen glands anymore...but almost like part of the pain was coming from the side of my tongue.

So I was checking it out, and towards the back of my tongue, on the right side, there is a new lump.. or at least one I hadn't noticed before. It's actually fairly significant in size, so I don't know how my mom or I had missed it before...

Anyhoo.. I am not running a fever, am tired (but what else is new), and the swollen tonsil doesn't have any noticeable white patches to indicate infection.. though it was a little red and irritated.

OH, and, when I use my tongue to feel the swollen duct/gland under my tongue, I taste something salty. Which makes me wonder if it's excreting something it shouldn't. Kind of gross, I know.

I'm scheduling a doctors appointment as soon as the office opens, I just was hoping to start piecing together possible info in the meantime since this pain is making it almost impossible to sleep...

Hi Mel!
Sorry to hear about all your auto immune issues. I too have many issues and I am finally after 5 years starting to get treatment. Swollen lymph nodes could be caused by many illnesses but my doctor thinks I have lupus. My lymphs are always swollen under my arms its so painful. Just keep going to the Docs dont give up! Everything will come together it may take awhile but it will.

I have times when my lymph nodes swell up too. I hope your doctor is able to find an answer for you.
