Hi everybody,

Hope everyone is doing well. I really do like this forum alot although I am still somewhat of a newbie.

Today I got over my fear of starting the Plaquenil my Rhuemmy perscribed to me. I should have started it last week but I had to go on vacation to Vermont and I didnt want to ruin it by a bad med reaction. I am hoping this medicine will help with the overall pain, fatigue and swollen lymphs. I am feeling somewhat ok but I did notice I got a headache which is made worse by walking a few hours after taking the med. Is this normal?

I just want to thank this forum because reading everyones post here made me feel better about taking the medication.

Hi,

Well after 5 years of it could be this it could be that its this oh wait no its not maybe its this my doctor finally said he thinks I do have lupus as all my arrows points to it. My blood work changes everytime I have it done so he said I am the type of person he has to go by symptoms only. When I first got sick I had the facial rash twice.

I also went to a new PC who said she too thinks their is def an auto immune issue going on and all my symptoms fits the Lupus bill. She said there is no reason why someone my age should be having all these issues. It felt nice to finally have some kind of answer after all these years.

I go back to my Rhuemy at the end of the month because he wants to see how the medicine is helping me.

I got headaches at the beginning of my diagnosis. However, my headaches came before the plaquenil. I take mobic for the pains that plaquenil doesn't cover and tramadol when my pain flares beyond the regular levels. I still get headaches that travel around my head, but they only last about 5-10 minutes, thank God!

I am new to all of this and I don't know what meds I will end up on but I heard that a lot of Lupus meds are either steroids or NSAIDS. I had gastric bypass 9 years ago and cannot take either of those things. I wonder what I will be able to take. If I have Lupus or something like it, I tend to lean more towards Sjorgens with me because you would NOT believe this mouth problem I have OMGoodness! I guess I might be a difficult one to treat symptom wise. I understand you being nervous though. Shoot the diagnosis is enough to put you on the ledge. Good luck to you hopefully the headache is a passing phase!
