Hi,

Brand New to all of this, so a lot of confusion.

My Gp did an ANA because I have been fatigued, losing hair, hives off and on 30x this summer with scars from some of the hives , losing weight, joint pain and inflammation, sun sensitivity, rash on my face, shortness of breath with chest pains occasionally, easy to bruise, dry eyes, mouth and get sick very easy.

I have just recently seen a new rheumatologist and she ran tests that all came back negative. She is sending me for a sleep study to rule out sleep apnea.

I have also been for allergy testing to rule that out and it turns out I am not allergic to anything. The allergist thought my hives with my ANA meant Lupus.

I am trying not to let any of this bother me and remain positive.

I guess I don't know what to do now. What does it mean since all of my other tests are negative. I do have a positive test for inflamation, and I am low on my vitamin D and B12

I am taking Plaquenil for the symptoms, and muscle relaxer, and mobic for the pain.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
PhoenixLady

A lot of your symptoms sound like lupus. You're on the right track with the medicines. If it is lupus they will help you feel better. It will take a good 6 months for the plaquenil to fully kick in for you.
When they did my testing they found out my ANA is positive, my D was low (8), but everything else normal. He still said it was Lupus.

Are you avoiding the sun? You maybe a sunsensitive person. I use a strong broad spectrum sunscreen, wear a SPF protective shirt and hat. I also protect myself from fluorescent lighting. It helps me a lot.

Thanks Joy

I try to avoid the sun at all costs. I barely made it outside at all this summer. I have been wearing sunscreen everyday. I haven't gotten any protective shirts yet but I have just started looking. I am not sure what to do about the fluorescent lighting since it is every where in my work place.

Under the Americans with Disabilities Act you can officially notify your boss of your problem with the lights and request for UV light filters to be placed on the lights. They should comply. My boss did it for me.

Thank you so much all of you.

I am going to talk to my supervisor first and then if she thinks it is wise I will talk to my human resources person. I work with people with disabilities but we are going through huge budget cuts so I am worried that they will balk at the idea....even though they shouldn't.

I go for the sleep stuff next week.... and my doc also suggested that I should get into the eye doctor too.
