i guess my main question is...is it typical for lupus lesions to merge with other lesions that are near it and form one big lesion?
and also....my lesions on one side of my body tend to mimick what's happening on the other side of my body. example: if i develope a lesion 2 inches below my elbow, in a few days time i'll develope one in same spot on my other elbow.
i'm 40 yrs old, female. Dy derm doc diagnosed discoid lupus based on skin biopsy, appearance, and duration of lesions. all my bloodwork was normal, including ANA, and a couple other lupus screenening tests were all normal also. My symptoms started in jan. of this year, was tested in march. i have a follow up visit tomarrow and am thinking about requestion another series of blood tests.
my lesions really don't look like discoid lupus. they don't leave scars, the hair still grows in those areas. lesions are on my arms (upper and lower) and my neck.
after my lesions go way (it takes months to do so) the skin is white in those areas and then over the coming weeks and months i develope freckles or age spots in those lightened areas.
is this typical behavior of discoid lesions?
