Hello everyone. I have an ANA of 1:640 and have had acne, extreme fatigue, and hair loss plus a low white blood count for a few months. I was seeing an Endocrinologist and they ran a bunch of tests thinking I had a Thyroid problem but all test came back fine. I also was seeing a Hematologist as well and they took blood and white blood cell count was low. I was taking Motrin due to back pain from a Spinal Fusion I had back in 04, and I was taking Aldactone, a water pill to help with ovulation. I was told to stop taking both for 3 weeks to see if that was the reason I was getting a low white blood count. Came back last week and still low white blood cell count. So now I have an appt to see a Rhematologist on the 14th of Nov to do further testing. Can anyone tell me if you've had similar test results and or symptoms. I also did the breast cancer 3 day walk in aug 2011 and developed severe joint pain in my hip and behind my knees. I am 34 years old and very healthy otherwise. It just occurred to me the reason I'm not healing is possibly having Lupus??
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this.

I'm new to lupus too. I was just diagnosed this past summer after 4 months of extreme fatigue and pain in my joints.
The slow healing is probably from the low white blood count. What's causing the low white blood count is a different story. It could be lupus related or something else.
The Lupus diagnosis is like being dropped in a maze without a map. There are many twist and turns and dead ends. Everyone has different problems with lupus. Sometimes we experience the same problems, but it's always changing for everyone.
For example, my problems are fatigue, joint pains, UTIs, hives, and sun sensitivity. I take mobic and plaquenil everyday to battle this. I also take Vitamin D every week to help with low D levels.
Stick around and keep asking questions. The battle is just beginning.

Hi Everyone,

I have a friend that was told she has lupus 5 years ago.She refused to accept this diagnosis, and is know going to a holistic person that is suggesting supplements. She has had a cough and shortness of breath for 10 months, but refuses to go to doctor. How can I help her see that  she does need medical care? confused Her sister was diagnosed with RA last week, and her mother died from lung complications  from RA 7 years ago.

A friend

Ask her to get checked for plueracy (Sp?). A GP can do this for her.

I have had auto immune problems since I was at least 10. I had a very major surgery in June that had severe complications I almot died. I have had all of the underlying symptoms of Lupus or some sort of bizarre fatigue pain issue going on but since this traumatic illness I am in a full blown flare. The doctors were hard to convince due to doctor arogance but I finally got them to run ANA and it was 1:320. They did the other panel and it was all negative but due to being 100% symptomatic I was sent to a rheumatologist. He ran further blood tests and found my vitamin D bottomed out my calcium low and my liver enzymes elevated which could have been also becaue of the severe malnutrition that was the complication of the surgery. He checked mainly for autoimmune hepatitis but I didn't have that but he said because 50% of the blood work says yes to Lupus and 100% of symptoms say Lupus and Sjorgens he is saying I have "mild Lupus" and I just started Lupus I take one pill one day and two pills the other day and Prednisone. I have lost over half of my hair andif it keeps going at this rate I will be completely bald no more than 2 months. The fatigue is almost indescribably it feels like my organs are to tired to function. It is hard to draw in a breath. I am so so hopeful for the medication to work especially for my hair. I was supposed to be off work for one week with what was supposed to be a minor gallbladder removal but on June 1st my life changed, I just started back to work last week I am definitely not ready but we are drowning financially and it sickens me to watch what my sickness is doing to my family so I am doing what I had to do....went back to work. I am barely surviving it but I can do it. Lupus is nothing to play with. I am not sure holistic is the way to go but if you want to try it go for it, this is a tricky disease under the best of circumstances so if I were you I would find a dr that you trust and then do what you are told so that you can live a happy healthly life.
