Hi everybody,   I just recently had a echo stress test done due to my issues with chest pain. The test was done by my PC who is very caring and understanding when it comes to me being sick. The test came back fine so did my EKG. My doctor told  me that she believes tLupus is causing inflammation of my chest musculoskeletal wall which then causes me to have chest pain. Does any else suffer from chest pain due to issues with their musculoskeletal wall?

I have had times where my chest hurts with breathing, but it was just a couple of days. I figured I'd pulled something.

Hi!

I, too, have regularly occurring episodes of chest pain, usually left chest/midsternal. The first two times it sent me flying to primary dr. for 1. an  EKG and 2. a complete cardiac workup including stress test and echo...... and surprise, surprise!!!! Normal.

So now, when it happens, I just get my heating pad and enjoy it. All the while telling myself at least I know it isn't my heart. Heart pain, angina, unless it is a heart attack, usually goes away with rest. My chest pain is often worse AT rest, since I have such muscle weakness on a good day I am not very active. And when my rheumy poked, I had some tender spots, and it was blamed on inflammation. I cracked a rib coughing two years ago when I had pneumonia and often the worst of my chest tenderness comes back in that area.

hugs,

suetoo

I recently started having this issue and I talked to my neighbor and she says they call it the MS Hug.
She also has lupus, arthritis and fibro so she's pretty messed up, too. A couple of days ago it was like
a 6" band all round my ribs, front and back, that kept getting tighter and tighter. Man did it hurt.
I just had the double strand DNA test done and with 9 as a high end marker, I scored a 13. I had to
bump my drs appointment for another 2 weeks and don't get to go until the end of the month.
I'm starting back on the beta-alanine to see if this will help for this problem. I'll give you an update.

Hi, I have had chest pain for years. I thought it was asthma, which I do have, but it's never been like this, and I wasn't really wheezing. I also have had this pain in my upper right rib area, my rheumy was the first dr. ever to say he thought the pain was coming from the bone or tissue there instead of the organs underneath. It's tight, sometimes hurts to breath, other times seems to burn. Does yours feel like that? I hope they figure it out for you and you can get some relief.

I get chest pain (and sometimes back pain along with it) due to costochondritis.  Is this maybe what your rheumy was talking about?  It really hurts, like a stabbing feeling almost.

I had this several years ago... before I got my DX..it was one of the many things that were happening to me before DX... It lasted 6 weeks.. and I had such terrible pain... I was taking 8 motrin a day.. never missed work but looking back on it now.. I should have.... it was awful... thankfully, I have never had again...

Dbab I dont think so. My Dr said it was inflamtion of the chest wall linning that causes the pain. Its not always a stab feeling lately its just a tightness feeling and pain.

@ Nana Monster

I have used beta alinine before for workouts. That stuff is good. It tingles a bit in your muscles for about 30 to 40 minutes and you feel like you could lift a truck. I wish I could remember the product I used hhmmmm...... it came from Popeyes supplements. oooohh ya....it's called betasine. I wish I had some now. I don't work out any more because of my spine. Good luck to you though!!!

I too have been experiencing that as well. My rhuemy said it was the inflammation in my chest cavity as well. It feels to me like a weight is on my chest or a band pulled tight around my chest and back. My throat becomes restricted and my glands swell as well. I get it when I wear myself out.. This is the second time this has happened, and it lasts about a month on and off.. No worries though... The pain will soon move to a different area of our bodies!! I guess it's giving my joints a rest right now!!
