I hope someone out there has some advice or help for me. I have autoimmune Disease with Hashimoto's Thyroidsis, haven't been feeling all that great for a while, went to the Doctor and she didn't quite know what to make of my symptoms either. I have lumps in my arms, elbows hurt like crazy, so much so that my whole arm hurts, she tested for Rheaumatoid Arthritis and it was positive, but she isn't sure, she thinks maybe it could be lupus. So I need to see a Rheaumatologist. Here comes the tricky part, I can't get in to see one until April 2012!!!!!! At this point in time I would just like to have a diagnosis so I know what I am dealing with!!!!! Any ideas????? (Sorry for the spelling)

See if you can get on the waiting list in case there's a cancellation. I had to wait 4 months for my first visit too. The wait is very aggrevating, but at least you're getting to see one. Some people get the runaround for years before getting referred to a rhuemy.

Can your doctor give you something for the pain while you wait? I take mobic and tramadol for my pains.

It might be worth a trip to Albequerque, Salt Lake City or Denver to see a doctor.  I am guessing you live in SW CO and there are few doctors let alone rheumies in your area.  Maybe your local doctor can help to locate the right doctor and arrange for a visit.

I am sorry you are not feeling well and that you have to wait for so long. I called several Rheumatologist's in my area and was placed on two waiting lists (as Joy stated). I had to wait for three months and took nsaids and used moist heat. If there is a big metro hospital around you that is a teaching hospital, you can often get an appt sooner with an MD that is in their fellowship phase of their specialty...it would be a start. Hope this helps and I hope you get some relief.
