The doctor called me today and asked me how was I feeling. I've had a back ache for 3 days but otherwise I was fine. He thinks I'm headed to a UTI infection and wants me to go to my primary physician and get a third test done and possible antibiotics.
My problem is I'm very allergic to almost every antibiotic there is. skull

((((hugs))))

I'm sorry your test results were not great.

At least a UTI is treatable, though, right?
If they can find an antibiotic you can tolerate, that is.
Which ones are you allergic to?

Brandi, I'll make it easy. Yes, UTI's are treatable, and with antibiotics. Which ones I'm allergic too? I'm allergic to SO MANY antibiotics that the nurse just says "any new allergies?" when updating my chart. I've recently made it to 4 (yes only 4) antibiotics I CAN take. The ones I can have are penecilin (sp), amoxicilin (sp), avelox, bactrim. So far those are the only ones I can handle. My allergic reactions go from hives to airway swelling.

Joy, macrobid is a common drug to treat UTI's as you probably know. I am allergic to a lot of antibiotics as well. I had a bout with UTI's for a couple of months and now they seem to have gone away!

I had three attacks in two months back in September.
I thought I was headed to the urgent care this morning. I started having frequent need to urinate and mild spasms. It stopped as soon as it started.
I hope nothing gets worse before the doctor's visit on Tuesday. I've got an important meeting tomorrow to be at and I can't miss it or I'll lose a lot of money.
Meanwhile I'm taking mega doses of cranberry extract.

Update:
Saw PCP and he agreed that I had a kidney infection and put me on Cipro. I've never had Cipro before so I'm hoping I'm not allergic to it. Time will tell.
The doctor is doing a culture on my urine and will call me in a few days.
