Hi
My name is Lisa and I have Fibro for 3 yrs. I was recently tested for sjordens syndrome. I got my results back by phone and my ANA was positive. It is homogenous and it was 1:40 and the titer was 1:160...What does that mean? My bloodwork to indicate inflammation was 28 and normal is 1-20. Just not sure what all this means and where it falls on the "somethings wrong" scale.
Please help and thank you

Lisa

It means you have tested positive for an autoimmune disease. Which one? The doctor will have to tell you that.
Are you seeing a PCP or a Rheumatologist? If you're not seeing a Rheumy get your doctor to set up an appointment for you.

Make sure to go to Lupus.com and read up on different autoimmune diseases. It will help you in your conversations with your doctor.

Thanks,
I have a rheumatologist for the fibro and I had an ana of 1:80 back in 2009. Has it gone up or down? My sed rate has always been on the high side.

It looks like the titer has doubled. It means it took the tech two times to dilute the sample before it tested negative.
1:40- normal
1:80- one dilution
1:160- two dilutions
1:320- three dilutions (this is my rate)

Is that on the low side and is it significant? Should I be concerned? I ask because when I talk to my dr. she tells me that it is just the Fibro. I am not looking for something that is not there however I would like to know if I should be concerned. Would I have ANA for fibro or sjogrens? I am so confused shocked
Sorry if it sounds like I an whining. I need to call my dr tomorrow about the findings and see if she wants to see me.

Mine is considered moderate SLE, but then I have a lot of the symptoms and no inflamation.
I'm not very informed on Sjogrens or fibro so I couldn't say about them. Ask your doctor what he thinks. If you're having more pain be sure to tell him.

I got the name from my what my mom called me as a child. She'd say, "If you don't turn off that TV and go play you're going to turn into a couchtater."
I still love my TV. ;))
