I heard from Donna last week, she may even be reading the forum again, not sure. She had her bypass operation reversed and is doing much better now that she can eat real food again.

I will tell her y'all asked about her.

We haven't heard from you for a long time either. How are things going?

Why yes, I've heard from me!  My by-pass stomach kept closing shut forcing me to get endoscopies every two weeks just so I wouldn't choke on my own saliva in my sleep. I had 15 endoscopies this year. My new bariatric surgeon was convinced that he had the hands that would perform the cadillac of endoscopies thereby saving me from surgery.  beep- wrong answer. That little stomach closed for business withing 6 weeks.  I refused to have him repair my by-pass because I've vomitted enough for two life times plus if he (or my body) F's up I'll have pic lines places in my veins and be hooked up to IV TPN nutrician 10 hours each night. During my pneumonia, coma, and sepsis I was on TPN and for the next 10 months at home. I'm in the process of weaning off TPN being teathered to it every 3 nights now.  So no by-pass repair for me.

Doc hated placing my stomach back as God intended because "all patients who get reversed gain all their weight back." That puts pressure on me to keep it off, so I'm trying hard. Doc made me stop my steroids and Cellcept 2 weeks prior to surgery, but during surgery he gave me a steroid bolus and continued it with a taper while I was in the hospital. Man, was I on an emotional roller coaster.  I'm not on any lupus meds currently, but I see my rheumy Feb 14. I have a cold so I'm flaring, but overall I'm feeling much better! I haven't had food in a year and it tastes sooooo good. Mantra: Gotta keep weight off...gotta keep weight off. You know I came up with the name Butterflake because I'm a flake and I looked like the Pillsbury Dough Boy. smilewinkgrin   Love, Butterflake (Donna)
