Hi--
I was googling articles about periodontal disease and ran across numerous recent and on-going research into links between periodontal disease and RA and Hashi's thyroiditis and there are probably more.  Periodontal disease (infected teeth and gums) leaks infection into the blood vessels and causes the liver to release CRP and the blood vessels to line themselves with plaque, causing heart attack and vascular disease.  Now they are looking into this type of connection for RA and Hashis and likely sjogrens and others.

I am using Plax, Waterpick, brush, then rinse. Also on antibiotics and getting things under control.  My chest pains are gone and for some reason, some of my vitiligo is going away (it is likely due to hashis doing better).  So far, I can do this and hold out hopes it gets me well-er and keeps others, like my sons, from getting some of these problems.

Some Rheumatologists believe there may be an infectious component to some cases of autoimmune connective tissue diseases (Lupus, RA, Scleroderma, etc.).

Google "The Roadback Foundation" for more info...

Yeah, I think alot of them now are realizing this, the problem is can they isolate the organisms that cause the problem and can it be treated. Like they know that TB can cause the development of certain autoantibodies, they have been doing a bunch of research. The biologicals they are developing are supposed to go after some of this. I think this stuff on teeth is so important for kids who are ill, because kids get a lot of throat infections and dental stuff going on.

That plax-waterpick routine cleaned up an infection I had for months now that flossing and brushing and three rounds of antibiotics wouldn't, in less than a week. That's pretty good.
