Hello all,

I have my first appt to the Rheumy on Monday. Any tips on how I should handle it? I am hoping for a Lupus diagnosis. My PCP conducted an ANA test and the results were: Homogeneous speckled 1:640 or actually it says ">=640 TITER Homogeneous Speckled" I think from my research that means 1:640, correct. Can someone help me understand it?

I have had major pain and rashes for years and unable to work since 2009. I have had two butterfly rashes as well and EXTREME sun sensitivity, fatigue, severe joint pains resulting in my using a service dog for 4 years, a walker for 6 years, and now a cane. Any information, advice, etc. would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks all, love being here glad I found you guys!

Welcome to HW!

If you look at the Lupus Resources thread (link in my signature) you'll find a list compiled by members of things to remember to take & ask at the rheumies.

There is also an explanation of ANA results in that thread.

Come on back and let us know how it goes!

I suggest two things. Taking someone with you!!! Important. Sometimes you can tune a Doctor out when you are in shock about what your hearing. Someone else will help you get all the info incase you did not hear or understand it. And a pen and paper. Ask questions. LOTS and write stuff down. Make sure you understand everything this Doctor is telling you.
