Hi. This is my first post. I was diagnosed with SLE about 11 years ago. I am about to start methatrexate. I am a second grade teacher, so I thought I would start the meds on the weekend, so I could deal with the side affects without affecting my class. I have heard that there can be a 2 to 3 day delay for the nausea. What has been your experience?

When I started it I had one full day of complete exhaustion.  After a few weeks even that went away.  Does your rhuemy have you taking folic acid?  That is supposed to help prevent the GI side effects. I do the Friday night thing.

MTX, I take 25mg IM (ah shot) (oh MTX is short for methotrexate) Yes, folic acid daily is norm cept I dont take it on the day I stick myself. I have had only bouts of an upset stomach, not persay bad nausea.

I do have zofran odt (dissolvable) for if my nausea gets too bad. I would try it over spring break now, to see how it hits you then decide what to do for the days. I have missed a couple days before due to lack of supplies. They have me doing it every 7 days
