I have been on Azathioprine for years. I just do NOT seem to be responding to it. Feel sick all the time. So my rheumatologist decided to switch me back to Cellcept. I just dont know what to do. I actually just asked the pharmacist and she said that these drugs stop working after a while and you get to a max dose and after a few years , they just stop working. I dont really know what to do. But I am soooo sick of being sick! So sick of being in bed 24 7!!!

Is there any reason not to take your rheumy's advice? Our drs often switch us if one med isn't working anymore.

For me, Imuran did nothing, but Cellcept really helped slow down my Lupus and regain some of the cognitive functions I had lost.

Be well,

Well.... no not really. Infact he is the best doctor I have ever had and caught many near deadly situations with my Lupus.I was on Cellcept for the first yr or two but I think I was put on it to be treated for the kidney problems I had at the time. When those kidney problems went away I was taken off by the nephrologist. Even tho I had kidney probelems in the begining I definitly felt better than then i do now. I "think" if I am correct at some point I had to stop cellcept because of the price and insurance. That is not the issue now and they also have a generic.
