Just found out that my Short Term Disability claim has been closed. They only paid me for 3 days. I have been off work for more than a month now.

The HR person at my work is trying to help. Also, my doctor gave me the name of another Dr. who may be able to help but he is in Tucson and I live in Phoenix. He also wants $250.00 to run tests and write a letter.

In the meantime, our home is being foreclosed on and we have to move in two months. My income was higher than my husbands so trying to find somewhere we can afford with me having any money coming in is stressful.

Now I have the UTI and I feel so stressed..... I am crying more often and I just don't know what to do.

I am thinking of just trying to get my Dr. to release me and go back to work.

Just don't know what to do... I am relying on God but sometimes that is hard too.

Have you called the insurance to find out why? As long as your doctor agrees that you should be out of work, and tells the insurance company you are not able to work for a certain amount of time, that should be all you need. Has your doctor filled out the correct paper work and sent it in?

HI Amy,

According to my doctor she has sent everything in. Even the insurance company said they had the paperwork. When I spoke to them on Monday they told me they needed more infor and would fax the doctor. Doctor never got paperwork. I called insurance again they said they would send it again yesterday and then today closed the claim.

The rep from the company for my employer is now involved. Maybe he can get things figured out.

Did you have long term care insurance through your job? You might want to check with a disability law firm that could help you appeal to your employer/insurance company and/or apply for Social Security Disability. If you opt for applying for Social Security Disabilty, be aware that it takes weeks to months to apply, then if approved, you wait months before it becomes effective. The attorney fees are a federally regulated % of the money for the "disabled" person's settlement and is separate from the amount to be received monthly from the Social Security Administration. Periodic re-evaluation and/or re-assessment of your disability will be required by the Social Security Administration so make sure you keep good medical records and possibly even keep a daily health log. I feel for you. Best wishes! Don't give up.
