This is has been a permanent fixture on my face since I started having pain symptoms in 2004/5. At the time, I was diganosed with fibromyalgia, but I have a long list of symptoms. The red part is flat, like my other skin, and looks flushed/blushed. I do believe it gets kind of lumpy and warm when I'm out in the sun for any extended period of time. No itching, no noticeable swelling. Just red. It ends about 2/3 the length of my nose, looking like a weird sunburn. The cheeks extend to the cheek bones. Sometimes there is a mild flushing on my chin and a faintly noticeable tinge on my forehead, but the most prominent areas are my cheeks and nose.

In general, rosacea is bumpy. Either your rheumatologist or your dermatologist would be able to diagnose -- although I bet they'd dx by trial and error to see what meds, if any, it responds to. This can also be a side effect of some medications....

Not much help, am I?

It looks like me when I go outside without my sunscreen and covers.

Sometimes it feels like I rubbed steel wool on my face when I touch it.

Wow that looks exactly like mine! Bring that photo with you to the doctor. I think the flash helps "bring it out"
