I have had EMG which came back fine. I had an MRI which came back ok according to my Neurologist. Now I am having a Somatosensory Evoke Potential test done on Tuesday. Wondering what tests any of you have had done to diagnose this.

I had the electrical current test thing done and then my nuerologist did some sort of accupunture things in my arms and measured responses in my muscles there as well. I have small fiber polynueropathy...it is the worst in my hands and fingers but I also have it in my feet. I get a b12 injection weekly and take tons of supplements for B vitamins and it has really helped. Be sure they check your B12 levels via blood test.

I guess I am an oddball. I have burning pain and tingling in my hands, arms, feet, legs, lower back and stomach and the back of my neck and shoulders. It started out in the fronts of my upper thighs and progressed from there over time. I have had 2 EMG's, MRI's and a small ffiber nerve biopsy done on one leg and all were normal. So, my rheumy still believes it is nerve pain/neuropathy but perhaps it didn't show on testing because sometimes tests don't give all the answers. I've tried Neurontin/Gabapentin and was taking 900mg/day but it didnt help. I'm now currently on Lyrica 75mg per day but it doesn't help either. I have had B12's checked and they are fine as well. One thing I would like to mention though briefly is the fact that I'm going to see an Endocrinologist for possible adrenal dysfunction/Addison's disease. I am wondering if this has a role in the burning pain that I get which is worse at night. I wish I could help more slm but unfortunately I've not had much luck in this area either. I hope you get better results! Keep us posted!

Thanks for the responses. Ladybug, you sound a lot like me. Mine started in my upper thighs also. It has spread into my hands up to the middle of my forearms. It usually gets worse in the evening as well or when I'm done "over doing" it. Which in my opinion doesn't take much!! I failed to mention I also have 3 cervical spine fusions and my MRI showed 2 more bulged discs. My neurologist said that there was no nerve impingement from that though. The Neurontin has helped with the nerve pain throughout the rest of my body but doesn't seem to be doing anything for this. The pain is like when your run your hands under warm water when their freezing cold. Burning, pins and needles... Please let me know what the endocrinologist says. I would love some answers!!

Hi there Stacy!

We do sound a lot alike! Even some of the meds we take lol....(wonderful what we have to compare ourselves to with one another haha) I am hoping the Endo gives some answers and if you get any yourself through anything def let me know! I know I have back issues...lower back pain that doesn't let up unless I crack it and I have some scoliosis in the thoracic part of my spine. Don't believe that was ever there in recent years though. One of my last scans revealed it.....I am really curious as to what's going on! Not feeling too bad although there's impending rain coming!....I hope you are doing okay. Keep us posted and feel free to message me if you need to talk. *hugs*
