Hello,

I'm new here and trying to prepare for an appointment with Rheumatologist tomorrow. A brief background. I went to my OB 3 weeks ago with complaints of fatigue, sleep issues, mild aching/joint pain. She ran several blood tests including an ANA test which came back positive. I don't really understand much of what this means, but my results were positive with a Speckled and Homogeneous Pattern. My ANA titer was 1:640.

They sent me back for I believe what was an full panel, and my results where the same, though the lupus, Sjogrens, Thyroid, Rheumatoid all came back normal.

The OB said they've exhausted all they can do, and referred me to a rheumatologist.

Any advice of what I can expect, questions I should ask? I really appreciate your advice/help. I'm a bit lost as to what this can be.

Welcome to HW,

Unfortunately, I don't have much time today to answer you personally. However if you look at the first thread in this forum "Lupus Resources" (link below), one post is a list of things to take with you to the first rheumy visit - symptom list and other hints.

Hope it goes well!

My Rhuemy used my positive ANA and symptoms to determine if I had lupus. All of the other tests were normal.
I know speckle pattern is usually seen in lupus, but I can't remember what homogenous pattern means.
Hopefully you will have a great rheumy who can figure out what's the problem quickly, because lupus is tricky to diagnose. It pretends to be other things.
